Texas is currently experiencing the worst dry spell since 1895, which is causing raging wildfires all over Texas. More than 1,000 homes have already been destroyed by the fires. Last week, alone, there were 179 fires over 170,686 acres. Firefighters have been working hard to control the fires, including the Bastrop County Complex fire, and are gradually making progress. Residents of affected areas are being forced to relocate until it is safe to return to their homes. Along with the Bastrop County Complex fire, there has been numerous other fires that have destroyed hundreds of homes. President Obama has declared that this is a major disaster, and federal aid and funding is available to Texas and its residents.
